What is Kintire golf?
Share
Kintire is a golf apparel brand built around one question: who are you when you stand on the first tee?
Not what handicap you play off. Not what clubs you use. Not how long you've been playing. Who are you — the way you think, compete, make decisions, and respond when it's not going your way.
Most golf brands don't ask that question. They sell you a polo. Kintire starts there instead.
The idea behind the brand.
Every golfer approaches the game differently. Some are strategists who play three shots ahead. Some are warriors who battle for every hole. Some are rebels who trust instinct over instruction. Some are dreamers who see shots nobody else would attempt.
These aren't random types. They're real, consistent patterns of behaviour that show up on every course, in every round, under every kind of pressure. And they map, with surprising precision, to the clan cultures and county identities of Scotland and Ireland.
Kintire connects the two. Your golf personality finds its heritage. Your tribe finds its history.
The 14 tribes.
Kintire is built around 14 tribes — 7 Scottish clans, 7 Irish counties. Each tribe represents a distinct golf personality with a specific superpower and a locked rival tribe.
The Scottish tribes are the Rebel, the Strategist, the Standard Bearer, the Keeper, the Seer, the Conqueror, and the Defender. The Irish tribes are the Craftsman, the Ice Player, the Dreamer, the King, the Warrior, the Outlaw, and the Firebrand.
Each one is specific enough that you don't blend into two of them. The quiz places you in exactly one.
How it works.
The Kintire quiz is 7 questions. Every question is an on-course scenario — a real situation that reveals how you actually behave under pressure, not how you'd like to behave. No questions about your job, your personality off the course, or whether you're an introvert.
At the end you get your tribe, your golf superpower, and your rival — the type of golfer whose game is designed to neutralise everything you do well.
The apparel follows from there. Each collection is built around a specific tribe. The tribe name sits on the back collar. When you wear it, you're not wearing a brand. You're wearing an identity.
Where Kintire comes from.
Kintire was founded in Holywood, County Down, Northern Ireland — a town with deep roots in golf and Celtic history. The brand draws on the ancient links of Scotland and Ireland, clan culture, and the stories of resilience, courage, and competition that run through both.
The ambition is not to be another golf apparel company. It's to build a community where golfers identify with a tribe, share what that means, and connect with people who play the game the same way they do.
Not just what you wear. Who you are.
